When he asks Preservation to help him stop Ruin, Preservation tells him to head across the ocean for help. However, Ruin intercepts and kills the messenger using Marsh, Kelsier's brother, who is now under Ruin's control.

Some of them are okay, but the majority seem to be for the purpose of creating hype and a bit of money. Once The Bands of Mourning was written, Brandon realized that readers needed more information on what Kelsier was doing behind the scenes, so he finished it up. They're obviously Elantrians; that much was clear from the physical description alone, and the names just made it more clear.

It's hard to talk about any of it without spoiling way too much for this entire series, including major stuff from both the first and second Mistborn series. The message had been intended by Kelsier to be intercepted by Marsh; Kelsier bet on his brother being able to break free for a critical moment. Preservation: A god force on Scadrial with powers that can preserve what already exists, but cannot destroy or create.

At the moment this guy just had three releases in a short few weeks and has another in a day or two. Although he engages him in a fistfight, Kelsier is unable to prevent Hoid from transitioning to the Physical Realm and helplessly watches Hoid consume a bead of Lerasium and exit the Well's chamber.

We also saw that cognitive 'units' look different on different planets: mist on Scadrial, spheres on Roshar, both of which are mirrors of Invested substances in the Physical Realm of that planet. This is why the famous Stick in Words of Radiance resisted Shallan - having been in the wilderness for its entire existence, there was nothing in its cognitive aspect that could be turned towards combustion. Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Only he could keep it secret for that long and then surprise his fans with a little extra something the same day he released another book. There may be more installments to the Secret History story, showing more of what Kelsier is up to behind the scenes with Spook and during the Wax and Wayne books.

He is most famous for his epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive and The Mistborn® Saga , but his work includes the sensational Skyward science fiction series, the Legion spy sequence, and The Reckoners superhero novels. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just say it's about Kelsier and what happened to him from the point he sacrificed himself to the Lord Ruler. Having no weapon, he decides to just walk in on them, and they both recognize him and wonder how he's there. He is that class of author you wish you could develop amnesia and read his books all over again to get the same feeling as you had the first time. Kelsier appears to give up hope until he realizes that Ruin is incomplete without atium, and therefore hasn't won yet.

The thing about Kel is that he is essentially a selfish character, sometimes to the point of near-villainous acts. Physical descriptions of Ati and Leras, to start with, including clothing that struck me as very interesting.
